Estanquillo Cafe: A Hidden Gem in Coyoacán

Nestled within the bustling Mercado de Coyoacán, Estanquillo Cafe is a delightful coffee haven that promises an authentic Mexican experience infused with warmth and charm. This family-owned establishment is not just a cafe; it's a place where every cup tells a story, crafted with care by the kind-hearted owner who welcomes you as if you were family.

The cafe specializes in a variety of beverages, but it is particularly renowned for its exquisite hot chocolate. Imagine indulging in a cup laced with mezcal, an artisanal twist that elevates this classic treat to new heights. Customer Yoo Yong raves about it, calling it "the best hot chocolate" they’ve ever had, and it's no wonder why. The rich, velvety texture paired with the smoky undertones of mezcal creates an unforgettable flavor profile that will linger on your palate.

Coffee enthusiasts will also be enthralled by Estanquillo's offerings. Jonathan Rodrigo gushes about the "most delicious hot chocolate" and encourages trying the cardamom mocha, a drink that expertly balances the robust flavors of coffee and the warm spice of cardamom. Complement your drink with their scrumptious baked goods; the oatmeal cranberry white chocolate cookie has received accolades for its perfect chewiness and delightful sweetness, making it the ideal companion for your coffee.

The atmosphere at Estanquillo Cafe is intimate and inviting, ideal for unwinding after a stroll through the vibrant market or engaging in heartfelt conversation. Customers like Gloria Yeomans appreciate the welcoming service and the café's intimate vibe, emphasizing the beauty of enjoying high-quality cocoa with just a dash of sugar to let the true flavors shine.

This charming cafe has quickly become a favored retreat for both locals and travelers exploring Coyoacán's rich cultural tapestry. Rick Hanson notes the proprietor's exceptional espresso craftsmanship paired with delicious baked goods, showcasing the dedication to quality that permeates every aspect of this charming establishment.

In a world buzzing with chains and impersonal cafes, Estanquillo stands out as a true treasure where kindness meets quality. Whether you're a connoisseur of fine coffee or simply in search of a cozy spot to recharge, Estanquillo Cafe invites you to indulge in a moment of warmth and flavor that's distinctly Mexican.

I had the best hot chocolate. It has mezcal flavored which the owner made herself. Cakes are good too.

We loved the service and the product of this small and welcoming coffee spot. This family-owned business is a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or cocoa while taking in all that this beautiful market has to offer. I had a cup of cocoa, just with a small touch of sugar which allows you to really taste the flavor of the cocoa. Probably one of the best I've had. Prices are good.
